I'd like to point out that you are mostly correct.
I'm a transsexual woman. I identify as pre-op.
So there are three basic mindsets of a transsexual. Pre-op is a girl like me. Who hasn't gotten Sexual Reassignment Surgery but wants to and plans to. Typically pre-op girls don't like their part and want nothing to do with it.
Post-op girls have had SRS.
Non-Op girls a transexuals that identify as female but do not seek to get surgery. These girls are usually more okay with using their thing sexually. Though not all of them are.
the important thing to note is that if a person is transsexual, then they identify as a gender that does not match their physical sex.

For those interested in learning that is a short simple video on the subject of how humans identify. It is accurate and informative.
As far as the term, "Transgender" is concerned. I invite EVERYONE here who actually wants to learn about this fascinating word to look into the following book:
"Imagining Transgender: An Ethnography of a Category" - by David Valentine
It is a great read that anybody curious should dig into.
I hope this helps.
