I've looked at this type of discussion and I always assumed "trapping" was a net and chan-centric set of practices. Transgender tends to be enacting certain gender roles out in society, while trapping tends to be a webcam, imageboard, IRC type of activity. The term itself comes from sexually "trolling" on imageboards, but developed into a category of related cyber-practices. Eh? So they are similar, but one tends to be a internet culture type thing while the other (they aren't necessarily mutually exclusive) is a boots on the ground, flesh-and-blood type thing. So walking down the street a 7chan trap is transgender. But while camming on 7chan they are playing the role of trap...so its a cultural thing. Chan culture vs. culture at large...Eh?
